Book it cheaper
Car Rentals
The legacy Car Rentals page embedded a Dohop search widget promising "more cars in more cities." Renting a car is easy; renting one without surprise charges at the counter is the skill.
Where the surprise charges come from
- Insurance at the counter. The agent's upsell is the industry's biggest margin. Check what your own auto policy or credit card already covers before you travel — then decline what you do not need.
- Fuel rules. "Prepay the tank" is rarely a deal unless you will drive it near-empty. Choose the option that matches your actual mileage.
- Add-on drivers and young-driver fees — read the terms before you book, not at pickup.
How to book for less
- Compare the out-the-door price including fees, not the daily rate.
- Airport locations carry premium surcharges — a nearby city office can be much cheaper if you do not need the counter convenience.
- Book early with free cancellation and re-check once; rental prices move with local demand.
